“ the kids hotdog in the little dog shaped bun is the cutest thing i have ever seen and the bun itself was really nice and soft. this is a spot that looks like a tourist trap but it’s actually so good and decently priced. ”
“ Tail o' the Pup is a classic hot dog stand that has been around the Los Angeles scene since 1946. As well as with Pinks, it is one of the longest lived hot dog stands in this neck of the woods. The original stand survives to this day and was in the Beverly center before moving it to WeHo on Santa Monica Blvd. They offer a variety of food, which is normal fare for the Hot dig stand variety. Burgers, French fries, milkshakes, and the like. Obviously, their specialty are the dogs in which the name of the establishment proudly has in its moniker. The dogs have a nice snap to them, and are cooked well throughout. You have a variety of different versions available to you such as Chicago, chili, ballpark, dogs famous through their respective years. The choices are endless. It's historical. It's a nice nook to escape from the Los Angeles insanity. It's a time capsule of delicious proportions. Come on down and let the Dogs convince you on their own. ”
“ The best corn dog I’ve ever had hands down. The batter consistency was perfect and cooked until Golden brown and crunchy. The onion rings were delicious as well. Dog friendly establishment the pups joined us for dinner. ”
“ Omg the best I ever tasted and I personally feel it’s better than Pinks Hotdogs. The Corn dog has a light crunch to it and it’favorable. Fresh and Hot. I highly recommend this place if your looking for a Hotdog Restaurant. Enjoy ”
“ We’ve been wanting to go here ever since it re-opened and it didn't disappoint. We are not a huge fan of hot dogs in general, but if we were to go out for a dog, this place is near the top of the list. The dogs had a good snap to them and tasted delish. The chili was peppery with a slight kick; perfect for a topping on the dog or fries. Plenty of seating indoors or outside. They even have the coca-cola mix machines so you can create any flavor combo you like. Our only gripe was that it is fairly expensive for the portion size. I expected more fries and a larger dog for the prices they charge. Bathroom was clean. Depending on time of day, parking could be tough. ”
“ If you love genuine vintage LA culture and perfect hot dogs and burgers, this is your place. The fact Jim Morrison sang in the bathroom is just an extra. And don't let the hot dog fool you, they also have the best burgers around, thanks to that crispy cheese. ”
“ A solid chili dog. From the snap of the dog, to the subtle sting of the chili (or was the pup a red hot?), not to mention the cute tray the pup comes in and the curbside Tail O' the Dog stand is worth the stop. Tail O' the Pup is Kitschy, no doubt. From the street side stand shaped like hot dog in a bun, to the Disney-esque stack of pickle, buns, ketchup, and mustard crates. Apparently stands like this that were as much road side attraction as place to get a meal were popular in earlier days of Los Angeles when California's car culture was developing, a way to draw in clientele. Currently located on Santa Monica Blvd. near the intersection with La Cienega and just up La Cienega from where it originally opened in 1946. There were two bike parking spots next to the stand. ”
“ Recently reopened but originally founded in 1946, this place is a true LA staple. The staff is very friendly and the design on the inside is a real retro throwback to the 60s and early 70s. You order at the giant hot dog out front and then pick up inside. You can dine inside, outside, or on the second level above where you pick up the food. Parking can be tricky in the area but that’s just West Hollywood in general. We got the Sassy Cheeseburger as a double and both really liked it. The butter lettuce with it is a great choice and way better than cheap romaine that most places use. Next came the Chili Dog and Jalapeno dog and both were really good. Tommy’s has better chili hands down but still it was a lightly seasoned, not as greasy, version of chili. I was partial to the Chili Dog between the two we tried. Lastly we ordered a side of fries and a Corndog. The breading on the corndog was super crisp and very tasty. I will admit Tommy’s has better chili and burgers but these are some seriously delicious dogs in a fun part of town. I will be back soon. ”
